CASE STUDY:
Eclipse Computing - SunSystems B2B Interface Product
CHALLENGE:
When developing a B2B hub that had to be integrated with SunSystems, Arden Systems realized the potential for a SunSystems B2B Interface Product that would provide a Web interface for SunSystems via the eBG (Electronic Business Gateway). The challenge was to develop a product that would enable access to the SunSystems database directly for reporting and indirectly (via eBG) for sales order processing.
RESPONSE:
The product developed by JLD Technology is broken up in to various parts for easy maintenance and deployment. The major logic components such as Product Availability, Warehouse, Pricing, and Substitute Product are all encapsulated into COM objects for reuse and efficiency.
The customers can customize certain fields and logic at the time of installation to meet the requirement in the best possible way. There is room for 10 warehouses per customer and the 20 step pricing logic is robust enough to accommodate any business/accounting steps to derive the appropriate price.
The reporting section generates two kinds of reports for customers – Order Status and Back Order Status. Reports can be real time or can be based on the previous day’s data created by a scheduled job that runs on the server on a nightly basis.
The product makes extensive use of XML/XSL for all inter component communication to ensure that it works with existing and future technological changes. The volume of data required to be displayed can be customized. The customers can also customize the entire front-end design by making their own XSL files.
